Jefferson County Public Schools seeks a Director Analytical and Applied Sciences. The position will provide leadership for district math and science initiatives.

The qualifications for Director Analytical and Applied Sciences- Gheens Academy are listed as follows: Minimum qualifications: Master’s Degree; Certificate in Administration and/or Supervision; Five (5) years successful experience in teaching and administration; successful leadership experience. Desirable qualifications: Doctorate Degree. Successful leadership experience in directing/leading implementation efforts using nationally recognized inquiry-based mathematics and science curricula in a culturally and economically diverse community. Familiar with current research on teaching and learning; possesses a demonstrated ability to work with teachers to make active-student investigation the core of the curriculum and instruction; experience using alternate assessment. Administers the development, implementation, and evaluation of a successful instructional program in the content areas of science and mathematics, incorporates Science Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives that promote the integration of technology into district-wide science and mathematics programs, and ensures that the curriculum reflects current research and theory in instruction and that professional development focuses on a process-based approach to science and mathematics. Salary: Schedule IV, Grade 14, 260 days.
